Still editing WP5....

Past few days writing up WP5 and altering results. I actually thought it would be easy to shorten it, but I've found so many mistakes and really need to read it carefully. Oh well, after writing it nicely, I really don't see how its not a significant work since its never been done before. I think writing up the presentation will be great fun. When you enjoy the topic, its easy to present it.

Minor things done, prepared for next week.

Redid table in WP5 to make it more descriptive. Transferred programs for WP4 so I can work from home. Tried to redo some things but found it was a dead end. Now that I know, I can work on the other parts of WP4, if I get this done (which is not an easy task), there will be not much work left to do. Have til end of September to work it out.

Light work done

Some minor work done. A condensed version of WP5 for conferences and as a working paper. Still needs to be proofread, probably in the evening. It is always good to make use of public holidays and weekends to do some work as it reduces the burden down the track. Still need to consider WP4, its not going to be easy. I will use the weekends some more to write up my presentations too.

Rough draft WP5 done, consider WP4 next week

I've pasted in my final results and have a rough draft for WP5. Submitted to conference too. Will need to cut it down for the final version, but that is light work. Will need to reconsider WP4 which is a difficult task next week.

More fiddling. About done.

Regressions take more than half an hour to run which is a bit of a concern. Anyway I'm done with testing and will paste and write it up tomorrow and over the weekend.

Fiddled with regression, results not strong but sound

Today I recorded what I did every hour from when I started and ended work. 11a,-6pm. Roughly:

2 hours write up regression and formatting code
3 hours fiddling with regression, talk to supervisor about results
1 hour lunch
1 hour bludge


The regressions take a long time to run. Maybe tomorrow I can finalise what I want from them? That means I will finish the paper by end of this week which is 1 week ahead of schedule.

Regression completed running overnight

Did the regression. Finer results are not as strong but will have to do. I will refine the data used in the results tomorrow and probably write it up too. I think the progress is alright though WP4 is always at the back of my mind to have to do redo.

Fixed data and did quick regression, results look promising. There are still various modifications I need to do. Hopefully won't take more than two days to do. Still need to redo WP4, may take the next month to do.

Currently doing variable, maybe regression

Met with co-author and spent day tidying up CV. Now will attempt to do regression by day's close. Weekend will do RA work and write up the bits to the paper.

Made variables need for regression, but still have to make more today. Will not get to finish it as it requires a rolling type variable which is more difficult to do. Maybe tomorrow I will finally get to doing a regression?

Not much done

Worked on updating data. Then was about to go and do the regression but had RA meeting. Also arranged meeting for WP4. Hopefully can get the regression components done Wednesday and Thursday. Isn't really too hard but may take time to crunch. Maybe try a small part first before doing the whole thing?

Read more, failed to do weekend's work

Did RA work instead of writing up new results in the weekend. Today read up on the regression, does not seem difficult to do. What is difficult is to write up convincing argument against the status quo. I think that is too much work and will just do the regression and finish up the paper as it is.

Pasted time results. Reading regresion

Pasted time results into paper. They look alright. Reading on how to do regression. May need to create my own one based on the interesting data I have. See how that goes. On the weekend, will write up the bits I have already. Even without the regression, I have a paper with many interesting stories to tell.

Wrote code to stick together the time bits

Not much done today as I went to buy a laptop bag and gift, and went to listen to seminar. I did write the code to stick the time part together but I rumbled the wrong data (should of removed the off market trades), rumble again overnight, then on Friday starting writing the code for weekly decompositions.

Over the weekend, I hope to stick the results in and write up those bits.

Done results for the two existing bits, doing time results

Today I woke up late which meant it was risky to go to uni as the brats take up all the parking by about 11am. The parking lot was full (as was most probable, plus it was raining) and a brat in a CRV nearly hit me in the parking lot (I was in the right of way). Luckily I got a space in the open area parking.

I was able to get the two existing table results churned out. Took awhile to rumble out. Haven't placed them yet. Still have to do the time results which are rumbling now and will rumble overnight (hopefully it is correct). I will then need to write a bit of code to stick the results together.

Next will be to investigate how to do the weekly decomposition results, this will require reading the literature. Over the weekend, I plan to stay at home and write up the results.

Updated old tables, rewrote methodology

Updated tables with new data and rewrote the methodology section. This is good progress. I still need to update the two existing tables, add another one and add a regression. Tomorrow I will probably have rewritten the existing bits and done the two existing tables. The paper is too long so will need to cut it down later. I expect this will mean removing tables and literature.

WP4 new draft complete, WP5 by end of month more updates

I have completed a new draft for WP4. It will have to do for now. I am hoping to have more regular, daily even updates of my WP5 paper, starting from today. So far I have found out that I have redone some results, but still have a few tables to redo and a few tables to do. Then I need to write it up. Should be finished by the end of the month.
