April end update

After 4 months or 1/12 of my (estimated) PhD life I am on somewhat of a foothold for a paper. The idea and research question we have are simple yet innovative. Nobody (at least I've read of) has attempted what we are doing. However this 'base' paper is meant to aid us in revealing more questions about portfolio managers that we can answer. There will be without a doubt more expansions so it can be a fully fledged paper. I'm hoping this will be the hardest part of the paper over and done with.

Change of plans, start to finalise results

Sponsor has asked to do certain things and so has steered me on to doing something proper. Supervisor has reminded me what the sponsor wants is the same path as the academic paper so is not actually a hinderance. Thus I have started finalising some results so I can do a bit of write up.

I hope to finish at least the basic parts end of April. I've only dragged this on during March while trying to find an interesting topic for the thesis. Now that's done (sort of), the rest is procedural and should require less rigorous thinking and more action. Probably means many late nights, but really this is much much easier than having to think up a topic even if it means working long hours.
